Disaster of Japan |
This year, there have been big earthquakes and typhoons. Japan has had big damage and many victims. Fifteen thousand eight hundred fifteen people died from the earthquake. Moreover, the nineteen thousand seven hundred eighty one people are missing. We felt fear, sadness and so on. However, we have a chance to learn something from these disasters. We can learn how we should prepare for disasters. I think there is something we can do to survive.
First, we should prepare for blackouts. If a big earthquake occurs, we may have a blackout. If blackouts occur, we can not use light, water, bath room and so on. We are not used to living without electricity so we should prepare for it. I think the minimum we need to prepare is water, light, food, and protection against cold. If you cannot prepare these things, you may be not able to survive.
Next, we should arrange how to make contact with our family. If big disasters occur, you may be not able to contact your family easily. Therefore, we should have a plan. For example, we decide a place to meet and to use the message board on the cellular phone. I think there are many ways to contact your family so you should talk with your family about disasters.
Finally, we should know how to return home from our school or company on foot. When the earthquake occurred, many people could not return home because all trains stopped. Moreover, when the typhoon occurred in September, tens of thousands of people could not return home from Shibuya though the metropolitan area prepared for confusion. If your school or company is far from your home, you should take the bus. However, I think many people will take the bus so they may be crowded. Therefore, knowing the way to home on foot is the best.
