Pablo Picasso was a famous artist. He was born on October 25th in 1881 in Spain. He painted many pictures and was the father of "cubism".

His father was a teacher of art. However, Picasso went to a different art school. His first picture, "Science and Love" won a prize at an area show, and he entered a great art school. But, he thought, "It's meaningless". And, he left the school. After that, he painted many pictures, and held an individual show in France. This period is called the "Blue period". Pictures of this period have a blue motif.

His most famous picture is "Guernica". It was painted during the civil war of Spain. It is very big, more than three meters tall, and has only two colors, black and white. It expressed his sadness over the civil war.

He died in 1973. He painted many pictures. These pictures are owned by the Picasso museum in Spain. He and his pictures are still popular among many people now.
