Our Future

Our Future

by Yoshiaki K. (2nd year)

I think that Japan has many critical phases now and people's lives will be much worse in the future. If we won't cooperate for Japan, we can't live here any more. So we must think about the problems in order to settle for our future.

Firstly, Japan has been experiencing many earthquake disasters in the Tohoku district since this year. Many people living there have suffered. Their houses were destroyed by the earthquake. After that, a large tsunami swept toward there. The tsunami carried away everything: houses, cars, trees, people, and so on. There was almost nothing left on the ground.

Secondly, after the earthquake and tsunami, a nuclear power plant disaster happened in Fukushima. As a result, much radiation is spreading in Japan. We are absorbing it in our daily life. I think that it is very dangerous. If this problem isn't settled within the next few years, I think we might get cancer some day and Japan will become disadvanted. Foreign countries may not buy from Japan because Japan's foods and exported goods may have adhered radiation.

Those problems are very serious for Japan. Reconstruction work has begun at each area. But radiation figures rise every day. Japan is at risk despite the fact that there are many Japanese people who work to settle those problems every day. What can we do for Japan's future? I think that it is important to support working people and victims. We should remember those things and think about how to survive for our future.

Lastly, if we have children we must teach those important things and lessons from disasters to them. I think nobody can stop the disasters. But people can cope with disasters. I hope for further decrease in the number of victims of these disasters.
